Top Bahamian Physician to Team with Leading Cleveland Clinic Florida Urologist for Free Men’s Health Webinar July 15
With one in nine men diagnosed with prostate cancer and an almost 100% cure rate if diagnosed early, there is no excuse for men to avoid a doctor’s visit, say experts.
“But, unfortunately, that is too often the case,” said Dr. Beverton Moxey, internal medicine specialist and gastroenterologist. “Men will procrastinate and find any excuse not to schedule a medical visit. By the time they present with a symptom, the disease or condition is likely to require a treatment that is harder to administer and harder on them.”
On Wednesday, July 15, Dr. Moxey will team with urologist Alok Shrivastava, MD, of Cleveland Clinic Florida (CCF) to present a free webinar on “Men’s Health” sponsored by the popular health care system with satellite offices throughout Florida and headquarters in Weston, west of Ft. Lauderdale. The webinar will start at 2pm and both doctors will take questions from participants.
“Women are sensitive to responding to what their body tells them,” explains Dr. Shrivastava. “Oftentimes men are reluctant to get medical care, which is a particular challenge with prostate cancer because symptoms can go undetected for so long. However, we’ve seen a dramatic reduction in prostate cancer deaths through early detection and treatment.” Other topics related to men’s health to be discussed will include vitality, sexual functionality, overall stamina, strength and gastro- and internal medicine conditions.
Dr. Moxey did his gastroenterology training at Cleveland Clinic Florida after completing his internal medicine residency at the University of Virginia Roanoke where he served as Chief Medical Resident. In addition to his Nassau based private practice, he serves as a consultant physician to Princess Margaret Hospital and Doctors Hospital Health System Ltd.
Co-presenter for the webinar, Dr. Shrivastava, is a multiple award-winning specialist, surgeon and researcher. He completed both a fellowship in Urology and Robotic and Laparoscopic Urologic Studies at Henry Ford Hospital, Michigan. His practice at CCF involves cutting-edge medical technology in robotic radical prostatectomy with or without veil nerve sparing, robotic partial and radial nephrectomy and robotic radical cystectomy.
