Eleuthera Medical Center to Host Major Health Fair in Bayfront Park, Governor’s Harbour June 11

Bahamas Wellness Health System through its Eleuthera Medical Center is set to host a major health fair in central Eleuthera on June 11.

Several doctors, including Bahamas Wellness Health Systems founder and wellness expert Dr. Arlington Lightbourne, and emergency medical specialist Dr. Jessica Moss, will speak on a variety of topics ranging from general wellness and heart disease triggers to COVID and monkeypox. They will take questions from participants.

“The residents, second homeowners and visitors to Eleuthera have been very good to us since we opened our doors in Palmetto Point in 2018. We have all been through so much together as we tried to navigate the pandemic that is now endemic. Out of appreciation for the community, we are expanding our regular lectures into the 1st Annual Eleuthera Center Health Fair, making information about self-health available to all who wish to attend,” said Dr. Lightbourne. The fair will be held Saturday, June 11, at Bayfront Park in the heart of Governor’s Harbour, a site chosen, he said, to accommodate sizeable numbers without crowding.

“We believe that the timing is right. COVID-19 and its variants have forced people to take a good, hard look at their health,” noted Dr. Lightbourne. “We want to help them do so.”

The fair will offer free blood pressure and glucose testing, brief workout sessions led by certified trainer Damien Turnquest, along with the opportunity to connect with National Health Insurance representatives and purchase locally grown produce from BAMSI. There will be a bouncy castle and face-painting for youngsters.

“We are also really pleased that Simplified Lending will be sending representatives from Nassau to discuss opportunities for locals who may want to finance a purchase or refinance a mortgage,” said Dr. Lightbourne. “Financial wellness is important to the overall well-being of an individual and while we stress nutrition, exercise, emotion and medication as the four pillars of wellness, we know that financial stress can take a toll that is hard to bear.”

The fair will run from 10 am to 2 pm. Admission is free. For further information, email info@bahamaswellness.org.
